<strong>INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES</strong></div>

1.Candidates must attend a minimum of 65% of the lectures for the course; examiners have the right to prevent defaulters from sitting for the examinations.</div>

Now the Big question that comes into play is Why some candidates are posted to their school of choice while some are not posted.</div>

There have been unconfirmed reports as to why candidates are not posted for admission and some of them will be discussed briefly here.</div>

1) LOW JAMB SCORE: The believe of many is that any candidates with a higher jamb score are the set of applicants that are posted by jamb to their choice of institution however this report is not true based on Analysis carried out by Loadedregion.tk<span style="font-size: 0.9em; line-height: 1.2em;"> and we are arrived at the conclusion that the posting is not based on score due to points below.</span></div>

I) Some candidates score above 260 and their names is among those that are not posted for admission.<br />
We also discovered that some candidates that scored 270,291,266 are also not posted by jamb.</div>

ii) Candidates that score 180 were posted to top federal universities based on our analysis, we discovered some candidates score 180 in jamb and their names have been forwarded to their institutions.</div>

2) O LEVEL RESULT : Another unconfirmed report is that the posting is based on the point system that circulated earlier and we have also concluded that the posting of candidates is not connected to their o level results, we pay attention to the o level result of many candidates that have been posted and those that are yet to be posted and we realised it is not the jamb posting of candidates deciding Factor.</div>

“It’s really sad that after 38 years of setting up the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB), she’s still on the quest to getting it right. It hurts when I see bright minds deprived of the opportunity to further their education largely due to the incompetence of the examination body. A question always pop into my mind: “Can’t we just scrap this system?”

Here is my view of what I feel should be the way forward

JAMB really needs to look beyond conducting examination. She should serve more as a portal that connects the students with the tertiary institutions. What do I mean by this, students should only register through JAMB having meet up with the requirements laid down by the body and their credentials should be forwarded to the institutions for the admission process

The system should be done in such a way that a candidate can only choose a max. of 5 institutions. The payment method should also be a factor of the number of schools chose. The minimum could be 2 institution costing N4,000 flat. An addition of extra school determines how much you eventually pay. E.g. For every extra school pick, you pay an addition of 1,000 to the 4,000 flat.

Access the website, fill up the number of institutions interested, print out the transcript, go to the nearest bank to pay, collect your pin and finally logon to begin your application. This will reduce the cost of printing scratch card which does not even sale for the exact amount in some part of the country. Some agents go the length of adding extra N300 before purchasing the card from them.

Once the application is closed for the year, JAMB should then sit down and process the various entries. A centralized timetable will then be designed for the conduct of the exam. Candidate who chose UI and other schools for example might take the other school’s (UniZik, FUTMINNA, IMSU and AAUA) exam first before taking that of UI’s depending on the calendar drafted. If a candidate who chose UNIBEN logon for the exam, he would be redirected to UNIBEN’s question which was set by the school herself.

This means JAMB technically have no question but serve as a middleman between the school and the candidate. This is where University standard come in to play. OAU’s questions might be more challenging compared to University of Uyo and students who wishes to attend OAU have to prepare very well.

After the examination, either the school/JAMB can mark (objectives) depending on the agreement reached and the result is then forwarded to the institutions. The result will then determine the cut-off mark to be used by the institution.

If for example, a candidate made it in to 3 of the 5 schools selected, he has the period of a month to accept just one of it creating vacuum for another potential candidate at the school he rejected.

This will balance the population across the institutions in Nigeria.”

The Association of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU) through its Secretary-General, Prof. Michael Faborode, has denied reports credited to the association that the Federal Ministry of Education and other stakeholders in the tertiary education sub-sector have agreed on N2,500 as fee for post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (post-UTME) screening.

According to him, it is not the duty of the association to make such pronouncement but that of the Ministry of Education.

He further stated that the whole story exhibits poor reportage, contains half-truth and conjectures, and represents very poor translation of the proper content of a written information as there was no way it was stated in the statement released by the association that Post-UTME is now N2,500 or that CBT has been scrapped.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) has issued its guideline for admission process into Federal, State and Private Universities in Nigeria for the 2016/2017 Academic Session.<br />
<br />
The announcement followed a week of meeting with universities and other tertiary institutions in Nigeria.<br />
Here are eight things Nigerian students must understand from the new guidelines.<br />
<br />
1. The new method uses a point system, which is divided into other processes. The board said, “before a candidate can be considered for screening, he/she must have been given provisional admission by JAMB.”<br />
<br />
2. The second process, the board said, was the point system where admission would depend on the point tally of the candidate.<br />
“JAMB’s provisional admission no longer makes much sense this year, your points tally will decide your faith. The points are evenly spread out between your O’level and JAMB results to provide a level playing field for all.”<br />
<br />
3. Any candidate who submits only one result which contains his/her relevant subjects already has 10 points, the exam could be NECO, WAEC, GCE etc, but any candidate who has 2 sittings only gets 2 points. So this means that aspirants with only one result are at an advantage but only barely.<br />
<br />
4. The next point grades fell into the O’level grades where each grade has it’s equivalent point; A=6 marks, B=4 marks, C=3 marks, so the better the candidates’ grades, the better his or her chances of securing admission this year.<br />

6. JAMB revealed that Universities would still have to screen applicants at the end of the admission process, using this point system. The Universities would charge the applicants fees for the screening.<br />

7. Cut off marks will be released by schools this year in the form of points and not marks. If a school declares it’s cut off mark for Medicine as 90 points and JAMB grants a candidate with 250 a provisional admission but his/her total points falls short of the 90 points, then he/she will lose the admission.<br />

8. The point system for direct entry would soon be released by JAMB even as the screening exercise would replace the scrapped UTME.<br />

The Secretary-General, Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU), Prof. Michael Faborode in a statement issued on Wednesday, stated that the Federal Ministry of Education and other stakeholders in the tertiary education sub-sector have agreed on N2,500 as the fee for post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) screening.<br />

According to him, the agreement was reached after a deliberation of officials of the ministry, federal universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.<br />

The Minister of Education, Mr. Adamu Adamu, on Monday, emphasized again that tertiary institutions should stop the conduct of Post-UTME. He directed those who have already advertised the exercise under any guise to retrace their steps immediately or face appropriate sanction.<br />
<br />
He equally directed that all tertiary institutions who before now have conducted the exercise to return the money paid by candidates as the exercise stands annulled.<br />
<br />
The minister made this known through the Deputy Director (Press and Public Relations) in the ministry, Mr. Ben Bem Goong and instructed that the National Universities Commission and appropriate departments in the ministry communicate this directive to relevant agencies and institutions to ensure strict compliance.<br />
<br />
According to him, the screening that will be recognized is such one that involves only the verification of certificates of the candidates, JAMB scores, and any other physical examination to ensure that such candidates are not cultists. Such screening should be at no cost to the parents or students and should be done upon resumption in order to avoid unnecessary travels in search of admission.<br />
<br />
The minister will tomorrow meet with Vice chancellors, rectors and provosts as well as other stake holders to work out modalities for the conduct of admission screening.<br />
